
Allison Brooks Janney (born November 19, 1959)[2] is an American actor. Her performances on screen and on stage were a highlight of her career which spans thirty years. Janney has been nominated for two Tony Awards and has been recognized with one Academy Award as well as an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Janney was born and raised within Dayton and Boston with her parents, received a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art for her to study further after graduation from Kenyon College. Janney has been credited with several small and rarely-seen film and TV appearances over the years. Her most famous performance as C. J. Cregg in The West Wing on NBC The West Wing (1999-2006) resulted in four Primetime Emmy Awards. As a result of her role as Margaret Scully, a Showtime actress in"Masters of Sex," a period television drama Masters of Sex, Janney won her 2014 Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding guest actor in a drama Series.
