Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media also a speaker who is Canadian. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of the way in which popular culture portrays women. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic who has won prizes for her work, is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency, a website dedicated to education, which examines women's role in the narratives of pop culture was the result of her research. The site also has the executive director. Aiming to dispel the myths that are associated with women in pop culture, she has also been working with issues that relate to the harassing women targeted by the media and different classes of individuals on the internet. Sarkeesian holds a York University master's in social theological, philosophical and political thought. Alongside being an acclaimed public speaker, she has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO The XOXO Conference as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. While a student at university Sarkeesian was fascinated by the issue of gender equality and the rights of women in the early stages. She had a plan to create a web series examining gender-based representations in video games. However, she ended up being the victim of a harassment online campaign.
